Week 5: CCS Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (September 29, 2025) – Kylie Wilhelmi (Maryville) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week, while Riley McChord (Asbury) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
 
Ruby Walton (Maryville) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kylie Wilhelmi, Maryville

Maryville senior outside hitter Kylie Wilhelmi continued to power the Scots’ offense with 58 kills across three matches last week. Wilhelmi averaged 19.3 kills per match while also contributing three blocks, 33 digs, three assists, and two service aces for a total of 61.5 points. Her consistent production on both sides of the court was a key factor in Maryville’s 3-0 week to start conference play.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Riley McChord, Asbury

Asbury senior libero Riley McChord anchored the Eagles’ back row with 54 digs in two matches. McChord posted a career-high 31 digs against Hanover before adding 23 more against LaGrange. She also contributed 11 assists from the libero position, showcasing her versatility in Asbury’s defensive setup.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Ruby Walton, Maryville

Maryville freshman middle blocker Ruby Walton continued to make her mark with a strong all-around week. Walton tallied 37 kills, five blocks, seven service aces, and one assist across three matches for a total of 47 points to contribute to the Scot’s success.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
