ATLANTA, Ga. (October 9, 2024) – Doug Gugel (Piedmont) was named the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS)
Golfer of the Week, released by the league office on Wednesday.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Doug Gugel, Piedmont
Sophomore | Winter Springs, FL
Doug Gugel delivered a standout performance at the West Pines Collegiate, finishing tied for 17th out of 105 golfers. Competing against a large field across 20 teams, Gugel posted rounds of 74-74-70, finishing with a 218 (+5). His 1-under 70 in the final round marked his best score of the fall season, propelling him up the leaderboard. The sophomore's strong performance helped Piedmont secure a 12th-place team finish at the event held at West Pines Golf Club.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
