ATLANTA, Ga. (March 12, 2024) - Yannick Wassmer Navarro (Piedmont) was Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Rohan Kavali (Piedmont) earned this week’s Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo, Abraham Gonzalez and Justin Humphrey (Belhaven) was named Men’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Yannick Wassmer Navarro, Piedmont
Sophomore  |  Madrid, Spain
 
Navarro finished with an impressive 1-0 singles record at the No. 1 position and a flawless 1-0 doubles record at No. 3 slot last week for the Lions. In singles play, the sophomore showcased his dominance with a commanding 6-0, 6-3 victory over Bethel. In doubles action, he teamed up with Connor Phelps to secure another resounding win, triumphing with a perfect 8-0 scoreline against Bethel. The Lions finished with two consecutive victories over Salve Regina and Bethel (MN).
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Rohan Kavali, Piedmont

Kavali boasted a 1-0 record in singles play at the No. 1 position and a flawless 1-0 record in doubles at the No. 1 slot. In singles action, the rookie demonstrated their skill and determination with a commanding 6-3, 6-1 victory over Salve Regina. Additionally, in doubles play, he teamed up with Jackson Traylor to secure another impressive win, triumphing with a solid 8-4 scoreline against Salve Regina. The Lions finished with two consecutive victories over Salve Regina and Bethel (MN).
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Abraham Gonzalez/Justin Humphrey, Belhaven
Seniors | Morelia, Mexico/ Florence, Miss.
 
Gonzalez and Humphrey secured a flawless victory in their No. 1 doubles match against LaGrange, triumphing with a perfect score of 8-0. Their performance contributed to the team's 9-0 sweep over the Panthers.

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports.
