Week 4: CCS Softball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (March 4, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
 
Maddie Grace Hubbard (Huntingdon) was named Player of the Week, while Kennedy Carruth (Belhaven) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Allie Roberts (Huntingdon) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Maddie Grace Hubbard, Huntingdon
Third Base  |  Sophomore  |  South Pittsburg, Tenn.
 
Hubbard led the Hawks to a 5-0 week with wins over Wartburg and Millsaps. The sophomore batted .438 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and two stolen bases.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Kennedy Carruth, Belhaven
Pitcher  |  Graduate Student  |  St. Francisville, La.
 
Carruth started four games at NFCA Leadoff Classic and went 2-1 while throwing 26.0 innings. The Louisiana native struck out 33 and allowed just five earned runs. Her only loss was to No. 1 Trine. She went 7.0 Innings with five hits, one run, and seven strikeouts against #23 Concordia Wisconsin.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Allie Roberts, Huntingdon
Pitcher  |  Freshman  |  Auburn, Ala
 
Roberts went 2-0 with with a 1.00 ERA collecting wins over Wartburg and Millsaps. The freshman pitcher collectedstruck out 26 and walked just three over 14 innings.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
