2024 CCS Women’s Soccer Championship Recap

For the Maryville Scots, it was déjà vu in the best way possible. The Scots captured their second straight CCS Championship, defeating Belhaven in front of a Scots’ home crowd to complete back-to-back sweeps of both the regular season and tournament titles.

After a scoreless first half, Maryville wasted no time after the break. In the 48th minute, Avery Brown raced down the right flank and delivered a perfect cross to Katie Corley, who buried the game-winning goal from five yards out. From there, the Scots’ defense held firm, limiting Belhaven to just a few quality chances as Maryville secured the championship once again.

Brown was named Tournament MVP, joined on the All-Tournament Team by Chloe Chase and Sydney Mahr of Maryville, along with standouts from Belhaven, Piedmont, and Asbury.

With the victory, the Scots earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, capping another remarkable season
