Week 2: CCS Men’s Tennis Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (February 25, 2025) - Caleb Domkowski (Covenant) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Eli Cauthorn (Maryville) earned this week’s Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week award, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo, Yannick Wassmer Navarro and Mark Backeberg (Piedmont) was named Men’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Caleb Domkowski, Covenant
Sophomore  |  Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.
 
Caleb Domkowski delivered a strong individual performance, going 2-0 in No. 2 singles against Rhodes and Hendrix. He also competed at No. 1 doubles with partner Ben Onufrock, earning a 1-1 record for the week. His efforts helped the Scots secure a team victory over Hendrix.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Eli Cauthorn, Maryville
Freshman  |  Decatur, Ga.
 
Freshman Eli Cauthorn made an immediate impact in Maryville’s spring opener, contributing to a 6-1 team victory over Indiana-Southeast. He teamed up with Jonathan Crane for a dominant 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles before closing out the match with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Yannick Wassmer Navarro/Mark Backeberg, Piedmont
Junior/Sophomore | Madrid, Spain/Cape Town, South Africa
 
The Piedmont duo of Yannick Wassmer Navarro and Mark Backeberg excelled at No. 2 doubles, finishing the week 2-0. They claimed a 6-3 victory over a Rhodes duo before securing a 6-4 win against Hendrix in the No. 2 slot.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
