Week 3: CCS Softball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 23, 2026) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
 
Catie Zani (Maryville) was named Player of the Week, while Sidney Hansen (Asbury) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Josie Potter (Asbury) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Catie Zani, Maryville

Catie Zani powered Maryville to a 3–1 weekend against Lyon and Rhodes with a strong all-around performance at the plate. The sophomore outfielder collected eight hits, including two home runs and a double, while driving in seven runs to lead the Scots’ offense. Zani also contributed defensively with three putouts and a perfect fielding percentage over the weekend.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Sidney Hansen, Asbury

Sidney Hansen delivered a dominant outing in the circle to help Asbury open its weekend series with a victory. The junior tossed five scoreless innings, allowing no earned runs and issuing no walks while striking out two. Hansen finished the week with a 0.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP across her appearance, guiding the Eagles to a 2–0 start with a steady performance.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Josie Potter, Asbury

Freshman pitcher Josie Potter earned her first collegiate victory with a strong five-inning performance in the circle. Potter allowed just one earned run on three hits, striking out five and issuing only one walk. She concluded the outing with a 0.80 WHIP and held opponents to a .181 batting average, helping secure the win.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
