Women's Track and Field post season bests at Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Scots Women's Track and Field team put forth another impressive showing at the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet, hosted by the University of the Cumberlands yesterday, March 13th. With a final team score of 131 points, the Lady Scots placed second in the meet, with numerous athletes placing in the top five of their individual events.

Recap - Women's team places 2nd with 6 school records, 13 personal bests, and 4 season highs.

Rachel Dunbar, Abbey Cox, and Maddy McClellan each had outstanding days in the shot put, discus, and hammer. Dunbar placed 3rd in shot put (10.54m), 7th in discus (29.58m), and 4th in hammer (33.15m), with a season high in both discus and hammer. McClellan recorded a season best in shot put, placing 11th with an 8.14m throw, as well as a 10th place finish in discus (22.01m) and a 3rd place finish in hammer (33.60m). Cox set a new school record in hammer throw with 45.64m and a 1st place result, a season best in discus with 35.55m and a 2nd place result, and a top five finish in shot put with 10.19m and a 4th place result.

Addison Goodwin represented in the javelin event, finishing in 7th place with a 20.25m throw, a new personal best for her.

The Scots dominated the triple jump, with Kaitlyn Snodgrass (10.75m) and Maddie Adair (10.30m) occupying the 1st and 2nd place spots respectively; both recorded personal bests, and Snodgrass set a new school record. Snodgrass and Adair also placed high in the long jump, with Snodgrass finishing 2nd (4.99m) and Adair finishing 3rd (4.77m) with a new personal best.

The excellence extended to the track. Harmonee King, Caitlin Gravatt, Alana Rodriguez, and Snodgrass placed 3rd in the 4x100M relay, setting a new school record in the process.

Rodriguez placed 2nd in the 200M with a time of 26.45. Adair placed 4th in the 400M with a time of 1:03.57, a personal best. Catherine Money also placed 4th in the 5000M with a 22:02.12 time, yet another personal best.

Shelby Walker posted two personal bests in the hurdle events, with a 6th place finish in the 100H (18.12) and a 5th place finish in the 400H (1:20.95).

Megan Shinn had another standout meet, setting two new school records in the 800M (2:30.96, 3rd) and the 1500M (5:02.76, 4th). 

Charlotte Wilson broke the school record for the 3000M Steeplechase, placing 2nd overall with a 12:52.39 time.

The Scots will be back in action next Saturday, March 28th, at the Landon Bond Classic at Berea College in Berea. Ky.
