ATLANTA, Ga. (March 31, 2026) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its women’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Sophia Velleco (Covenant) was named this week’s
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside
Rachel Dunbar (Maryville) who collected this week’s
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor.
Lucie Demers (Covenant) was also tabbed
Women’s Track Rookie of the Week and
Khristian Bell (LaGrange) earned
Women’s Field Rookie of the Week.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Sophia Velleco, Covenant
Sophomore | Stafford, Va.
Sophia Velleco turned in a strong sprint performance at the Mountainside Stride, sweeping both of her events. The sophomore captured first place in the 200m with a time of 27.78 and followed with another victory in the 400m, clocking 1:03.22. She currently ranks third in the CCS in the 400m.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Rachel Dunbar, Maryville
Freshman | Tyrone, Ga.
Rachel Dunbar delivered a winning performance in the shot put at the Landon Bond Classic, taking first place with a throw of 10.75 meters. The freshman’s mark currently ranks first in the CCS.
TRACK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Lucie Demers, Covenant
Freshman | Rogers, Ark.
Lucie Demers saw the top of the podium twice at the Mountainside Stride, claiming first place in both the 800m and 1500m. The freshman recorded times of 2:29.75 in the 800m and 4:56.03 in the 1500m, leading a field of 12 runners in each event. The freshman is currently ranked second in the CCS for both events.
FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Khristian Bell, LaGrange
Freshman | Tyrone, Ga.
Khristian Bell delivered a standout all-around performance at the Emory Thrills in the Hills meet, competing across sprints and jumps. The freshman placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.43 meters and added a 13th-place finish in the triple jump (10.85 meters), with both marks setting new school records and landing her a first-place spot in CCS rankings this season. Bell also competed in the 100m (12.41) and 200m (26.49).

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
