Week 1: CCS Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (March 10, 2026) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its women’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Megan Shinn (Maryville) was named this week’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside Abbey Cox (Maryville) who collected this week’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor.
 
Brycelyn Townsend (Belhaven) was also tabbed Women’s Track Rookie of the Week and Kaitlyn Snodgrass (Maryville) earned Women’s Field Rookie of the Week.
 

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Megan Shinn, Maryville
Sophomore  |  Clarksville, Tenn.
 
Megan Shinn delivered a record-breaking performance at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals, capturing first place in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 41:18.68. The sophomore’s performance set a new Maryville program record and currently stands as the top mark in the CCS this season.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Abbey Cox, Maryville
Sophomore  |  Mosheim, Tenn.
 
Abbey Cox turned in a strong performance in the throwing events at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals, placing fourth in both the hammer throw and discus. Cox recorded marks of 41.06 meters in the hammer and 33.69 meters in the discus, leading the league in both categories.
 
TRACK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Brycelyn Townsend, Belhaven
Freshman  |  Winona, Miss.
 
Brycelyn Townsend posted a solid performance at the Mississippi College Season Opener, finishing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.01 seconds.
 
FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Kaitlyn Snodgrass, Maryville
Freshman  |  White Pine, Tenn.
 
Kaitlyn Snodgrass delivered an impressive debut at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals, setting new Maryville program records in both the long jump and triple jump. The freshman recorded a mark of 5.07 meters in the long jump, placing fifth in the event, and followed with a jump of 10.14 meters in the triple jump to place sixth.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
