ATLANTA, Ga. (December 31, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its Men’s Basketball Players of the Week.
BJ Brown (Huntingdon) was named
Player of the Week, while
Kyle Cloninger (Maryville) earned
Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.

BJ Brown had an outstanding week, averaging 22 points, seven rebounds, and over five assists per game as Huntingdon went 3-2. Brown also contributed nine steals while shooting 40% from the field, 37% from beyond the arc, and 73% from the free-throw line. His standout performances included a 34-point, 11-rebound, 9-assist effort against Lyon and a 32-point, 10-rebound, 6-assist game against Albion, earning him recognition from D3sportsdata.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK– Kyle Cloninger, Maryville

Morristown, Tenn.
Freshman guard Kyle Cloninger played a key role in Maryville’s Cregger Invitational championship run, contributing across the board in two victories. Cloninger averaged 9.5 points on 53.8% shooting, including 3-of-7 from three-point range, and was perfect at the free-throw line (2-of-2). He also averaged 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and committed just one turnover in 64 minutes of play.

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
