Player of the Week, while
Rohan Kavali (Piedmont) earned this week’s Men’s Tennis
Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
The duo,
Abraham Gonzalez and
Justin Humphrey (Belhaven) was named Men’s Doubles Team of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Yannick Wassmer Navarro, Piedmont
Sophomore | Madrid, Spain
Navarro boasted an impeccable singles record of 3-0 at the No. 1 slot. The sophomore secured victories against tough opponents. Notably, he faced Wisc.-Superior and clinched a hard-fought victory with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (4) at the No. 1 position. He continued their winning streak with dominant wins over Hampden-Sydney (6-0, 6-2 at #1) and Loras (6-4, 6-2 at #1). In doubles play, he teamed up with Connor Phelps and achieved a flawless record of 2-0, with wins at the No. 3 slot, and one win with Charles Parnell at the No. 2 slot. Together, they secured victories against their opponents from Wisc.-Superior, Hampden-Sydney, and Loras leading the Lions to a 3-0 record on the week.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Rohan Kavali, Piedmont
Freshman | Hyderabad, India
Kavali repeated another outstanding week for the Lions achieved a flawless record of 2-0, securing victories at the No. 2 and No. 6 slots. The freshman faced tough opponents such as Wisc-Superior and Loras, defeating them with scores of 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 and 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2, respectively. In doubles action, Kavali teamed up with Jackson Traylor and delivered a solid performance, winning their match at the No. 3 slot with a score of 8-2 against Loras.
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Abraham Gonzalez/Justin Humphrey, Belhaven
Seniors | Morelia, Mexico/ Florence, Miss.
Gonzalez and Humphrey joined forced to secure a 4-3 record with wins over Loras College, Juniata, Scranton, and Susquehanna. The duo secured impressive wins against Juniata with a score of 8-5 and against Susquehanna with a score of 8-3 at the No. 1 doubles slot. They suffered losses against St. Scholastica, Colby-Sawyer, and St. Norbert, but bounced back with victories against Loras with a score of 8-6 and Scranton with another 8-6 win at the No. 1 doubles position.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
