Week 5: CCS Women’s Tennis Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (March 18, 2025) - Alyssa McSpadden (Piedmont) was Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate, Caroline Morrison (Piedmont) earned this week’s Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo, Elizabeth Shwaiko and Calliana Kondolios (Maryville) was named Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Alyssa McSpadden, Piedmont
Senior  |  Flowery Branch, Ga.
 
McSpadden led Piedmont with a dominant 3-0 record at No. 1 singles, helping the Lions to a 3-1 week. She secured straight-set victories over opponents from Cornell College and Millsaps and won a hard-fought three-set battle against Loras. In doubles play, McSpadden posted a 2-1 record across three different pairings, securing wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Additionally, McSpadden has set a new Piedmont record for career singles wins and career total wins.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Caroline Morrison, Piedmont
Freshman  |  Melbourne, Fla.
 
Morrison remained undefeated in singles play for the week, going 3-0 across the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 slots. She dropped just three total games across all three matches, including a flawless 6-0, 6-0 performance against Loras. In doubles, Morrison partnered with Abby Gayle Moody to go 2-0 at No. 3 doubles, helping Piedmont to a 3-1 team record.
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Elizabeth Shwaiko/Calliana Kondolios, Maryville
Senior/Freshman | Monterey, Cal./Nolensville, Tenn.
 
Shwaiko and Kondolios teamed up at No. 1 doubles, finishing the week 1-1 while securing a key 6-4 victory over Emerson to clinch the doubles point for Maryville in a 4-3 team win. The duo battled against Cornell’s top pair but ultimately fell, 3-6. Shwaiko also picked up a convincing 6-1, 6-1 singles win against Emerson’s top player.

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year.
