Week 2: CCS Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (March 25, 2025) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its women’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Bailey Gassmann (Asbury) was named this week’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside Emma Christensen (Covenant) who collected this week’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor.
 
Kallee Cooper (Asbury) was also tabbed Women’s Track Rookie of the Week and Mikayla Riccio (Asbury) earned Women’s Field Rookie of the Week.
 


TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Bailey Gassmann, Asbury
Sophomore  |  Churchville, Pa.
 
Bailey Gassmann dominated the distance events at the Georgia Southern Relays, earning first-place finishes in both the 800-meter and 5000-meter runs. She set a new Asbury school record in the 800m with a time of 2:21.68 and claimed the 5000m title in 18:35.91.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Emma Christensen, Covenant
Senior  |  Watertown, Tenn.
 
Emma Christensen broke Covenant’s school record in the triple jump with a mark of 10.15 meters at the Lee University Invitational, securing a seventh-place finish. She also placed third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.58 meters.
 
TRACK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Kallee Cooper, Asbury
Sophomore  |  Frankfort, Ind.
 
Competing at the Georgia Southern Relays, Kallee Cooper placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.21 and also recorded a 27.72 finish in the 200-meter dash.
 
FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Mikayla Riccio, Asbury
Freshman  |  Phoenix, Az.
 
Mikayla Riccio delivered a strong performance at the Georgia Southern Relays, earning second place in the high jump with a mark of 1.52 meters.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
