ATLANTA, Ga. (April 15, 2025) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its women’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Bailey Gassmann (Asbury) was named this week’s
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside
Allie Feltus (Piedmont) who collected this week’s
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor.
Sophia Velleco (Covenant) was also tabbed
Women’s Track Rookie of the Week and
Haley McLeer (Piedmont) earned
Women’s Field Rookie of the Week.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Bailey Gassmann, Asbury
Sophomore | Churchville, Pa.
Bailey Gassmann continued to dominate the distance events for Asbury, earning two first-place finishes at the 2025 Asbury Invitational. She won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:55.91 and later returned to the track to take the top spot in the 3000-meter with a time of 10:54.16.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Allie Feltus, Piedmont
Senior | Natchez, Miss.
Allie Feltus turned in a strong showing across three events at the Berry Field Day Invitational. She finished third in the discus with a season-best mark of 39.64 meters, the top throw in the CCS this season. Feltus also set a personal record in the javelin with a mark of 28.67 meters and added a 15th-place finish in the hammer throw.
TRACK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Sophia Velleco, Covenant
Freshman | Stafford, Va.
Sophia Velleco stood out for the Scots at the Berry Field Day Invitational, winning her heat in the 800-meter and clocking a time of 2:33.54 to finish 20th overall in the event. She also contributed to Covenant’s 4x100-meter relay team that finished sixth and broke the school record with a time of 51.89 seconds.
FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Haley McLeer, Piedmont
Freshman | Palm Coast, Fla.
Haley McLeer posted a top-15 finish in the pole vault at the Berry Field Day Invitational, clearing 2.77 meters to place 11th overall. The freshman’s performance currently ranks her second in the CCS this season in the event.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
