ATLANTA, Ga. (April 22, 2025) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its women’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Bailey Gassmann (Asbury) was named this week’s
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside
Caroline Preston (Asbury) who collected this week’s
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor.
Abbey Cox (Maryville) earned
Women’s Field Rookie of the Week.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Bailey Gassmann, Asbury
Sophomore | Churchville, Pa.
Bailey Gassmann continued her outstanding season by breaking her own school record in the 800-meter run at the Centre Twilight Meet. The sophomore clocked a time of 2:20.35 to finish second overall.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Caroline Preston, Asbury
Graduate Student | Nicholasville, Ky.
Caroline Preston made history at the Centre Twilight Meet, setting a new Asbury school record in the triple jump with a mark of 10.15 meters. The graduate student’s standout leap not only broke the previous record set in 2021 but also qualified her for the NCAA Division III National Championships.
FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Abbey Cox, Maryville
Freshman | Mosheim, Tenn.
Abbey Cox continues to impress in her debut season, leading the way for Maryville at the Mountain Laurel Invitational, hosted by Sewanee. Cox placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 34.47 meters, finishing as the top performer for the Scots in the field events.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
