Week 8: CCS Women’s Basketball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (January 5, 2025) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its Women’s Basketball Players of the Week.
 
Emily Sizemore (Asbury) was named Player of the Week, while teammate, Anna Hellums (Asbury) earned Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Emily Sizemore, Asbury

Emily Sizemore powered Asbury to a pair of CCS victories with a strong all-around performance on both ends of the floor. The junior guard totaled 40 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals across the two-game stretch, averaging 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game.
Sizemore opened the week with a team-high 22 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals in a win over Wesleyan. She followed with 18 points, five rebounds, and three steals against Agnes Scott.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK– Anna Hellums, Asbury

Freshman forward Anna Hellums made a significant impact in Asbury’s two CCS wins, contributing across the stat sheet. Hellums totaled 27 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and six steals for the week. Hellums recorded 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks against Wesleyan, then followed with 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals in the win over Agnes Scott.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
