Week 8: CCS Women’s Tennis Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (March 31, 2026) Maisie Tanchanpongs (Covenant) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Ella Kate Canaday (Piedmont) earned this week’s Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo of McKena Spencer and Calliana Kondolios (Maryville) was named Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Maisie Tanchanpongs, Covenant

Maisie Tanchanpongs delivered a strong week at the top of the lineup for Covenant, going 2-0 in singles play at the No. 1 position. The freshman opened with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory over Agnes Scott before adding a 6-2, 6-2 win against Piedmont. In doubles, Tanchanpongs partnered with Estee Verdery to go 1-1 at No. 1, highlighted by a 6-0 victory against Agnes Scott. Her efforts helped the Scots to a 7-0 team win over Agnes Scott during a 1-1 week.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Ella Kate Canaday, Piedmont

Ella Kate Canaday turned in an impressive all-around performance as Piedmont went 2-0 on the week. The freshman earned a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, defeating Covenant’s Verdery 6-1, 6-1. In doubles, Canaday was a perfect 2-0, securing wins at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. She teamed with Caroline Morrison for a 6-0 win against Belhaven and paired with Kaleigh Stallworth for a 6-2 victory over Covenant. The Lions finished the week 2-0 with conference wins over Belhaven and Covenant.
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – McKena Spencer/Calliana Kondolios, Maryville
Freshman/Sophomore | Victoria, Tex./ Nolensville, Tenn.
 
The duo of McKena Spencer and Calliana Kondolios remained unbeaten at the No. 1 doubles position, posting a 2-0 record for the week. The pair earned a 6-2 win over Southern Virginia and followed with a 6-3 victory against LaGrange, helping the Scots to a 5-2 team win over the Panthers. Their consistent play at the top spot anchored the Maryville’s doubles lineup during a 1-1 week.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
