Week 5: CCS Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 7, 2026) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its men’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Clarence McLean (Maryville) was named this week’s Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside Alex Reed (Belhaven) who collected this week’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honor.
 
Ryheem Mighten (LaGrange) was also tabbed Men’s Track Rookie of the Week and Kenneth Mills (Belhaven) earned Men’s Field Rookie of the Week.
 
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Clarence McLean, Maryville
Senior  |  Nashville, Tenn.
 
Clarence McLean delivered a dominant sprint performance at the Blue and Gold Invitational, sweeping both the 100m and 200m events. The senior clocked a winning time of 10.56 in the 100m, and followed with a first-place finish in the 200m at 21.65.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Alex Reed, Belhaven
Junior  |  Jackson, Miss.
 
Alex Reed turned in a strong pair of performances in the long jump across the Belhaven Midweek Open and the Southern Miss Invitational. The junior placed second in both meets, recording a jump of 6.86 meters at the Midweek Open before setting a personal-best mark of 7.01 meters at Southern Miss. His PR jump ranks among the top 25 marks in NCAA Division III this season
 
TRACK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Ryheem Mighten, LaGrange
Freshman  |  Kingston, Jamaica
 
Ryheem Mighten continued his standout freshman season at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements meet, placing ninth in a deep 200m field of 110 competitors. The freshman clocked a time of 21.39, setting a new LaGrange program record. His performance also ranks first in the CCS this season.
 
FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Kenneth Mills, Belhaven
Freshman  |  Memphis, Tenn.
 
Kenneth Mills delivered a strong week in the high jump across the Belhaven Midweek Open and the Southern Miss Invitational. The freshman opened with a first-place finish at the Midweek Open, clearing 1.88 meters, before following with a fifth-place finish at Southern Miss with a mark of 1.98 meters.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
