ATLANTA, Ga. (March 18, 2024)– The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Allie Gordon (Belhaven) was named Player of the Week, while Kennedy Carruth (Belhaven) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Macy Funderburk (Belhaven) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Allie Gordon, Belhaven

Gordon's performance at the plate sizzled during a flawless weekend for the Blazers, boasting an outstanding 12-24 (.500) batting average. The graduate student showcased her power with one double, four home runs, and a total of 15 RBI in victories against SUNY Geneseo, Simpson College, as well as conference opponents Wesleyan and Agnes Scott.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Kennedy Carruth, Belhaven

Carruth dominated on both sides of the field, going undefeated with a perfect 4-0 record across four starts. In 24.0 innings pitched, the Louisiana native allowed just 10 hits and three earned runs while striking out 37 batters, including a phenomenal 15 strikeouts in a victory over Washington College. The graduate student excelled at the plate as well, going 14-for-23 with three doubles and two home runs, contributing seven RBI to the Blazers undefeated weekend.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Macy Funderburk, Belhaven

Funderburk delivered a stellar performance, going 1-0 in three appearances while keeping opponents scoreless. The freshman pitcher finished with an impressive 19 strikeouts in just 11.0 innings pitched, conceding only four hits.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
