Week 10: CCS Men’s Basketball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (January 20, 2025) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its Men’s Basketball Players of the Week.
 
Jacob Reese (Belhaven) was named Player of the Week, while Kyle Cloninger (Maryville) earned Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jacob Reese, Belhaven

Jacob Reese delivered back-to-back double-doubles to lead Belhaven to a perfect 2-0 conference road trip. Reese dominated the boards, averaging 17.5 rebounds, including 10 offensive rebounds in a game, and 22.0 points per contest. He recorded a season-high 26 points and 18 rebounds in a win over Covenant, followed by an 18-point, 17-rebound effort against Piedmont. Reese’s stellar performances were key to Belhaven’s continued success in conference play.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK– Kyle Cloninger, Maryville

Freshman guard Kyle Cloninger contributed across the board during Maryville’s 3-0 week, averaging 7.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game. Cloninger shot an efficient 56.3% (9-of-16) from the field and added four assists while committing just one turnover in 26 minutes per game.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
