Week 9: CCS Women’s Tennis Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 7, 2026) Katherine Nova (Asbury) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Hattie Sloyan (Piedmont) earned this week’s Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo of Maisie Tanchanpongs and Estee Verdery (Covenant) was named Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Katherine Nova, Asbury
Sophomore  |  Lexington, Ky.
 
Katherine Nova led Asbury at the top of the lineup in a 4-0 team victory over Belhaven, earning a dominant straight-set win in singles play. Competing at the No. 1 position, Nova defeated Belhaven’s Gllarno 6-0, 6-0, helping to secure a clean sweep for the Eagles.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Hattie Sloyan, Piedmont
Sophomore  |  Greensboro, N.C.
 
Hattie Sloyan delivered a strong all-around performance as Piedmont posted a 2-0 week with two shutout victories. Playing at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles, Sloyan earned a 6-4, 7-5 win over Johnson & Wales (N.C.) and teamed with Sarah Sanabia for a 6-2 doubles victory. Her efforts contributed to 7-0 team wins over Johnson & Wales (N.C.) and Agnes Scott.
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Maisie Tanchanpongs/Estee Verdery, Covenant
Freshman/Junior | Bangkok, Thailand/North Augusta, S.C.
 
Maisie Tanchanpongs and Estee Verdery posted a perfect 2-0 record in doubles play, leading Covenant at the top of the lineup. The duo secured a 6-4 victory over Maryville before adding a 6-1 win against LaGrange. Their strong play helped anchor the Scots during a 1-1 week, including a 7-0 victory over LaGrange.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
