Week 8: CCS Women’s Soccer Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (October 22, 2024) – Kaia King (LaGrange) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Olivia Rosario (Agnes Scott) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Shaylinn McFarland (Huntingdon) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kaia King, LaGrange
Forward  |  Junior  |  Canton, GA
 
Kaia King delivered an outstanding 90-minute performance for LaGrange in a thrilling comeback win against Huntingdon, contributing an assist and scoring both her 10th and 11th goals of the season. Throughout the week, the Georgia native recorded eight shots, five of which were on target.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Olivia Rosario, Agnes Scott
Goalkeeper  |  Sophomore|  Westfield, N.J.
 
In a challenging 1-1 week for the Scotties, Olivia Rosario consistently kept the team competitive, making nine saves in the first match and an impressive 10 saves in the second. These performances have placed Rosario fifth in NCAA Division III, averaging a remarkable 13.62 saves per game, and currently rank second in Total Saves with 177.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Shaylinn McFarland, Huntingdon
Forward  |  Freshman  |  Madison, AL
 
McFarland demonstrated her efficiency for the Hawks this week, even amid challenges. In two conference matches, the freshman forward registered four shots, with three finding the target.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
