ATLANTA, Ga. (April 1, 2024)– The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
Brecca Williams (Maryville) was named
Player of the Week, while
Kennedy Carruth (Belhaven) earned
Pitcher of the Week honors.
Taylor Spivey (Piedmont) was also tabbed
Rookie of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brecca Williams, Maryville

Williams helped Maryville to 4-0 weekend against Agnes Scott and Wesleyan. The junior infielder batted .636, going 7-for-11, and hit her first collegiate home run. The Tennessee native scored seven runs with three RBI and four stolen bases.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Kennedy Carruth, Belhaven
Pitcher | Graduate Student | St. Francisville, La.
Carruth went 4-0 over six starts while allowing just eight hits. The graduate student pitcher allowed just one run over 25.0 innings with 28 strikeouts. The Louisiana native threw a seven-inning, no-hitter against #12 Huntingdon with 10 strikeouts.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Taylor Spivey, Piedmont

Spivey appeared twice totaling 10 innings, allowing just one earned run and a walk with four strikeouts leading the Lions to wins over St. Olaf and Covenant.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
