ATLANTA, Ga. (February 24, 2025) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its Women’s Basketball Players of the Week.

Ebony Gayden (Belhaven) was named Player of the Week, while Anissa Brailsford (Agnes Scott) earned Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.

Ebony Gayden capped off the regular season with back-to-back 20-point double-doubles, leading Belhaven to a 2-0 week and extending the Blazers’ winning streak to eight games. She opened with a 22-point, 10-rebound performance in a win over Maryville, adding two steals and an assist. Gayden followed with a dominant effort against Agnes Scott, scoring 25 points while shooting over 80% from both the field and the free-throw line. She also grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked three shots, and recorded a steal and an assist to help Belhaven secure the No. 3 seed in the upcoming CCS Championship Tournament.

Anissa Brailsford closed out her freshman campaign in impressive fashion, recording three consecutive double-doubles to keep Agnes Scott competitive against CCS Tournament qualifiers. She posted 12 points and 16 rebounds in a hard-fought loss to Huntingdon before delivering a season-best 24-point, 14-rebound effort in a narrow 81-79 defeat against LaGrange. She finished the week with 19 points and 11 rebounds against Belhaven, shooting a remarkable 62.5% (20-for-32) from the field across the three games. Brailsford also improved at the free-throw line, shooting 65% (15-of-23) for the week, rounding out an outstanding rookie season.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
