Week 7: CCS Women’s Tennis Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (April 1, 2025) - Ariadna Zegarra (Asbury) was Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate, Katherine Nova (Asbury) earned this week’s Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo, Sarah Row and Jordan Ballard (Piedmont) was named Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ariadna Zegarra, Asbury

Ariadna Zegarra delivered a flawless performance last week, going undefeated in both singles and doubles play to help Asbury secure back-to-back 7-0 victories over Huntingdon and LaGrange. Competing at No. 2 singles, Zegarra dominated her opponents, winning 6-1, 6-3 against Huntingdon and 6-0, 6-0 against LaGrange. In doubles, she teamed up with Megan Moore at No. 2 to earn a commanding 6-1 win over Huntingdon’s duo.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Katherine Nova, Asbury

Freshman standout Katherine Nova continued her impressive debut season, finishing the week undefeated at No. 1 singles and doubles. She posted a 6-3, 6-0 win against Huntingdon’s top player and followed it with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory against LaGrange. In doubles, she partnered with Martina Paillet to secure a 6-3 win against Huntingdon before teaming up with Malory Watkins for a 6-2 win over LaGrange. Nova’s efforts helped lead Asbury to consecutive 7-0 team victories.
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Sarah Row/Jordan Ballard, Piedmont
Juniors | Marietta, Ga./ Canton, Ga.
 
The Piedmont duo of Sarah Row and Jordan Ballard made a strong statement at No. 1 doubles, earning a key 6-2 victory over Covenant’s top pair to help the Lions to a 7-0 team win. Row and Ballard showcased strong chemistry and consistency, helping Piedmont split its matches for the week with a road victory at Covenant before facing No. 20 Sewanee.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
