ATLANTA, Ga. (April 20, 2026) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its baseball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
Daniel Counts (Covenant) was named
Player of the Week, while
Josiah Chiesa (LaGrange) earned
Pitcher of the Week honors.
Tanner Morneau (LaGrange) was also tabbed
Rookie of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Daniel Counts, Covenant
Catcher | Freshman | Clemson, S.C.
Daniel Counts delivered an explosive week at the plate, powering Covenant to a 3-1 record that included a win over Berry and a series victory against Maryville. The freshman batted .538 (7-for-13) while posting a 1.308 slugging percentage, highlighted by three home runs and eight RBI. Counts also scored seven runs and added a double. Behind the plate, he recorded 21 putouts and three assists.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Josiah Chiesa, LaGrange
Pitcher | Sophomore | Dalton, Ga.
Josiah Chiesa delivered two clutch relief appearances to help LaGrange secure back-to-back come-from-behind wins over Piedmont. The sophomore went 2-0 on the week, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings without allowing a hit while striking out six. Chiesa faced 16 batters across his outings, holding opponents to a .000 batting average and allowing just one baserunner via walk.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Tanner Morneau, LaGrange
Centerfielder | Freshman | Marietta, Ga.
Tanner Morneau played a key role in LaGrange’s sweep of Piedmont, leading the Panthers to a 3-0 week with a strong offensive performance. The freshman batted .533 (8-for-15), scoring six runs while driving in six more. Morneau recorded a double and a triple, drew two walks, and added a stolen base, while also finishing the week with a perfect fielding percentage in center field.
