Hannah Mathis (Covenant) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Volleyball
Player of the Week, while
Kenzie Brewster (Maryville) earned
Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
Katelyn Eldred (Maryville) was also tabbed
Rookie of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hannah Mathis, Covenant
Middle Hitter | Senior | DeFuniak Springs, FL
Hannah Mathis had a stellar week for Covenant, recording double-digit kills in all three matches for a total of 37 kills (12.33 per match). She also contributed 12 blocks (4 per match) and 13 digs across the week. Her best performance came in a hard-fought loss to Maryville, where she posted 16 kills and six total blocks.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kenzie Brewster, Maryville
Middle Blocker | Senior | Old Hickory, TN
Kenzie Brewster anchored Maryville’s defense during a 3-0 week on the road, where the Scots won nine of ten sets against Covenant, Belhaven, and Piedmont. Brewster totaled 13 blocks, including five solo blocks, and added five digs. Her standout performance came in a 3-1 victory over Covenant, where she tallied four solo blocks and three block assists.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Katelyn Eldred, Maryville
Defensive Specialist/Libero | Freshman | Tallahassee, FL
Freshman Katelyn Eldred played a key role in Maryville’s perfect 3-0 week, contributing 56 digs, five aces, and eight assists. Eldred’s defensive efforts were highlighted by her 26 digs in a 3-0 win over Belhaven, just one dig shy of her season best. She also added four aces and three assists in the same match, showcasing her all-around defensive ability.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
