Week 8: CCS Women’s Tennis Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (April 8, 2025) - Natalie Tedesco (Huntingdon) was Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Caroline Morrison (Piedmont) earned this week’s Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The duo, Martina Paillet? and Ariadna Zegarra (Asbury) was named Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Natalie Tedesco, Huntingdon
Sophomore  |  Huntsville, Ala.
 
Tedesco was outstanding for Huntingdon this week, posting a perfect 4-0 record in both singles and doubles play to help the Hawks secure back-to-back team victories. Playing at No. 3 singles, Tedesco rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Giuntoli of Covenant and followed with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 result against Agnes Scott’s Cox. In doubles action, Tedesco partnered with Ella Hathcock at the No. 2 position to deliver two key victories. The duo edged Covenant’s Cummings and English, 7-5, and then defeated Cox and Ziller of Agnes Scott, 6-3. Tedesco’s flawless performances helped Huntingdon earn a 5-2 win over Covenant and a 7-0 sweep of Agnes Scott.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Caroline Morrison, Piedmont
Freshman  |  Melbourne, Fla.
 
Morrison came up big for Piedmont, earning a crucial singles victory in the Lions’ narrow 4-3 win over Asbury. Playing at No. 3, Morrison defeated Asbury’s Paillet in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, to help secure the team win in Piedmont’s only match of the week.
 
DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – Martina Paillet & Ariadna Zegarra, Asbury
Senior/Junior | Rosario, Argentina/ Lima, Peru
 
Asbury’s top pairing of Martina Paillet and Ariadna Zegarra turned in a strong performance at No. 1 doubles, earning a 6-2 victory over Piedmont’s Row and Ballard. The duo’s dominant win gave the Eagles an early edge in the match and was a highlight despite a narrow 4-3 team loss on the road.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
