Week 9: CCS Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (October 28, 2024) – Reese Bailey (Maryville) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week, while Riley McChord (Asbury) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
 
Isabelle VandeSchraaf (Asbury) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Reese Bailey, Maryville
Middle Blocker  |  Senior  |  Brentwood, TN
 
Reese Bailey led Maryville to a 2-0 week, tallying 26 kills—13 in each match—as well as five service aces and six block assists. Her performance marked her ninth match this season with double-digit kills.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Riley McChord, Asbury
Defensive Specialist/Libero  |  Junior  |  Lexington, KY
 
Riley McChord reached a career milestone for Asbury this week, surpassing 1,000 career digs with 15 against Agnes Scott. She anchored Asbury’s defense across a 2-1 week, contributing 43 digs, 10 assists, and four service aces. McChord’s efforts helped Asbury maintain a 12-1 conference record.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Isabelle VandeSchraaf, Asbury

Isabelle VandeSchraaf continued her impressive freshman season, recording 40 kills and 23 digs over three matches, including her 11th double-double of the season. Leading the offensive attack for the Eagles, VandeSchraaf helped Asbury to a 2-1 week in CCS play, contributing to the team’s top-seeded standing with a 12-1 conference record.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
