Week 10: CCS Softball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 15, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
 
Allie Gordon (Belhaven) was named Player of the Week, while Kennedy Carruth (Belhaven) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Allie Roberts (Huntingdon) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Allie Gordon, Belhaven

Gordon went 3-7 with three home runs, two RBI, and a walk in the weekend sweep of Maryville.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Kennedy Carruth, Belhaven
Pitcher  |  Graduate Student  |  St. Francisville, La.
 
Carruth threw 9.0 innings allowing three hits and one unearned run with six strikeouts in two appearances at Maryville. The Louisiana native threw a complete game with two hits, one unearned run, and five strikeouts in the opening game of the weekend.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Allie Roberts, Huntingdon

Roberts opened the weekend against LaGrange pitching 5.0 innings with three strikeouts, earning a win for the Hawks. The freshman pitcher struck out 12 without a walk in 7.2 innings of work, picking up another win in Huntington's sweep of Piedmont. The Alabama native followed up and collected a final win against Agnes Scott in 6.1 innings striking out eight batters.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
