Week 14: CCS Men’s Golfers of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 15, 2026) - Doug Gugel (Piedmont) was named the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Golfer of the Week, while Brady Patterson (Asbury) earned this week’s Men’s Golf Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Wednesday.
 

GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Doug Gugel, Piedmont

Doug Gugel put together a steady three-round performance at the Sam Snead Collegiate, finishing tied for 10th in a 108-player field. After opening with a 77 (+6), the junior responded with back-to-back strong rounds of 71 (E) and 70 (-1) to climb the leaderboard and lead the Lions to a sixth-place team finish.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Brady Patterson, Asbury
Freshman  |  Bowling Green, Ky.
 
Brady Patterson continued his consistent play with a near top 10 finish at the Timbergate Preview, placing 11th out of 67 competitors. The freshman carded rounds of 76 (+4) and 73 (+1) on the course, improving his score in the second round to move up the standings and lead the Eagles to a top 10 team finish.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
