Week 9: CCS Softball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 6, 2026) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
 
Valerie Bailey (Piedmont) was named Player of the Week, while Karley Rouse (Belhaven) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Elizabeth Yother (Covenant) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Valerie Bailey, Piedmont

Valerie Bailey led Piedmont at the plate during a 3-1 week, batting .455 (5-for-11) across four games while driving in four runs. The sophomore recorded hits in three of four contests, highlighted by a pair of multi-hit performances against LaGrange. Bailey also delivered in key moments, driving in two crucial runs during a doubleheader sweep of Maryville.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Karley Rouse, Belhaven

Karley Rouse delivered a strong performance in the circle during Belhaven’s 2-0 week against No. 8 Huntingdon, earning wins in both appearances. The junior threw 7.0 innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three and holding opponents to a .130 batting average. With an ERA of 1.00 on the week, Rouse led the Blazers to a pair of key conference victories.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Elizabeth Yother, Covenant

Elizabeth Yother delivered a dominant outing in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout in her lone appearance of the week. The freshman allowed just three hits over seven innings while striking out five and holding opponents to a .136 batting average.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
