Week 10: CCS Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (November 4, 2024) – Isabelle VandeSchraaf (Asbury) was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week, while Riley McChord (Asbury) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
 
Julia Damico (LaGrange) was also tabbed Rookie of the Week.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Isabelle VandeSchraaf, Asbury

Isabelle VandeSchraaf continued her impressive freshman season, leading Asbury to a 3-0 week and helping the Eagles clinch the top seed in the CCS Tournament with a 15-1 conference record. VandeSchraaf recorded 40 kills and 47 digs over the three matches, averaging 3.33 kills and 3.92 digs per set. Her week was highlighted by a 20-kill, 22-dig performance against Huntingdon, marking her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Riley McChord, Asbury

Riley McChord anchored the Asbury defense, recording 58 digs across three matches to help the Eagles finish the regular season with a 15-1 conference record and secure the CCS Regular Season Title. McChord notched performances of 18, 19, and 21 digs against conference opponents, totaling an impressive average of 4.83 digs per set over 12 sets. Her consistent play was instrumental in Asbury's 20-6 overall record.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Julia Damico, LaGrange

Freshman Julia Damico showcased her versatility on the floor for LaGrange with 20 kills, 36 assists, and 30 digs over a pair of matches for the Panthers. Damico’s standout performance included a triple-double with 10 kills, 20 assists, and 20 digs in a match against Tuskegee.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
