ATLANTA, Ga. (April 23, 2024) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its women’s track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Kymiah Blair (Berea) was named this week’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, alongside Nakiyah Washington (Piedmont) who collected this week’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor. Emily Lane (Covenant) was also tabbed Field Rookie of the Week.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Kymiah Blair, Berea
Junior | Chesnee, S.C.
Blair earned a 19th place finish in the 400m run with a time of 56.47 seconds at the Jim Green Invitational. The South Carolina native is ranked fourth in the Great Lakes region.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Nakiyah Washington, Piedmont
Senior | Blairsville, Ga.
Washington collected a first place victory and a new Piedmont school record in the shot put at the Mountain Laurel Open (11.90m). The Georgia native captured two more top-five finishes with a second place finish in the javelin (34.18m) and fifth place finish in the hammer throw (36.71m). The senior thrower rounded out the meet with a seventh place finish in the discus throw (32.34m).
FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Emily Lane, Covenant
Freshman | Dalton, Ga.
Lane earned a third place finish in the discus throw at the Mountain Laurel Open (35.50m). The Georgia native also placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 27.70m.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Berea College, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
